There are several signs and symptoms that could indicate a person is experiencing mental health concerns. These may include:
- Individuals may display the following behaviors when experiencing distress:
- Aggressive physical and/or verbal acts towards students, faculty, staff, or others
- Expression of suicidal thoughts, ideations, gestures, and/or attempts
- Poor hygiene
- Disruption, withdrawal, and/or isolation
- Stalking and harassment
- Challenging authority
- Excessive talking
- Excessive tardiness
- Inappropriate conduct while on field assignments on and off campus
- Fidgety
- Anxiousness/panic-like symptoms (i.e. rapid breathing, sweating)
- Inability to communicate
- Loss of touch with reality (delusions, disassociations, and hallucinations)
